New member 'edit' restrictions

Why can't you edit? Is it a new member restriction?

Beats me. (?) The edit button only seems to last 10 minutes or so to make corrections, then that option goes away for me.

It is. I believe it is set to ten minutes. I understand its to prevent potential spammers who somehow get through from then deliberately changing all their posts. But don't quote me on that!

On another forum we had a lot of new people posting what looked like legit posts.
Only to then adding in a spam link at a later date

I think we're all pretty certain you're genuine, so I've promoted your account early. Please don't go and prove me wrong .

You should now be able to edit your posts (it make take a short while for permissions to update, so if they don't, log out and back in again).

There is another area of the site which should become visible in due course as well.

Sadly, as the other moderators can vouch, we get a considerable level of spam. Luckily most is addressed by our anti-spam filtering system but we still see our fair share as moderators.
