It would be silly to roast a turkey for two of us, one of which eats like a bird even when eating one. So the menu is only partially traditional. The soup will be Polish kapusniak, the entree will be turkey tetrazzini made from a half turkey breast and we will have candied yams and a tossed salad. Anybody else challenging tradition?

That sounds almost traditional to me. You hate turkey and you have candied yams! Ok. As you say, its partly traditional.

No Thanksgiving here obviously.

Why are turkeys traditional for Thanksgiving?

Native American Indian thing. Turkeys abound here. You see them all the time in fields, yards, side of the road, everywhere. I'm living in the middle of where the Cherokee Nation was before they were marched off to Oklahoma. The Trail of Tears, actual route, is just a few miles away.

It's silly for me to have much to do with a turkey but I did buy 3 smoked legs and they've already been moved to plan whatever later.

I am slowly putting together a more traditional Southern dish with trotters. Once cooked today it'll go in the fridge overnight for the flavors to meld and reheat to eat tomorrow.

These biscuits will be made into bread pudding.
