I was wondering what people knew about pizza ovens. I have one which hasn't been well looked after and needs some attention. I have given it some TLC but it needs some more yet.

I made its first firing yesterday and cooked some damper in it. The concept of pizza will need me to take a wire brush to the plate yet because it had standing water in it when I first opened it. It took a while to dry out.

The damper was excellent and cooked to perfection in 20 minutes.

I've built pizza ovens before using a sand mould reclaimed heat bricks from night storage heaters , chicken wire and heat proof cement ,we used a piece of granite to cook on ,they get very hot and have to turn the pizza all the time ,have also slow cooked lamb shoulders in there on cool down, and roasted squashes for purees and of course flat breads
The longevity of the oven depends on weather
