Addicted is a pretty strong word. I craved sweets with two of my pregnancies, and salt with the last. But I wasn't addicted to chocolate.
There is a reason for that, though, you know.
Chocolate consumption usually triggers a release of oxytosin in females, the same hormone released during orgasm. The same hormone released during delivery. The same hormone released every time you breastfeed your baby. It is the "relaxant" hormone.
Craving chocolate is often the body's response to desiring that sense of relaxation, pretty common during the stress of pregnancy.
