It has been brought to my attention that the privacy policy was not displayed on the page where users agree to it, and that there did not appear to be a link to that page. (There was a link, it was just not obvious.)

I have made some fundamental changes to the way the site shows the privacy page, and now need to apply them to check the changes have worked.

The policy itself has not changed - this is just the way the system shows it, and the only way I can check this is to re-apply the policy tick box.

Update – Privacy Policy display

I’ve now identified and resolved the issue with how the privacy policy was displayed.

When CookingBites was originally set up, the forum software did not include a built-in privacy policy. The original site owner quite sensibly put a custom policy in place so the site still met expectations around privacy and transparency.

Over time, the forum software has evolved to include a built-in privacy policy system. Because the site has been upgraded across several major versions, the earlier custom setup meant the policy was no longer displayed clearly during the acceptance step.

I’ve now aligned the site with the current system so the privacy policy is shown and linked in the way the software expects.

The policy itself has not changed — only the way it is presented.

To confirm that everything is working correctly, members will be asked to re-confirm acceptance of the privacy policy. This is a technical requirement of the system and does not affect your account or data.

I appreciate your patience, and please feel free to ask if anything is unclear.
