I needed some savoury for one of the recipes from my new cookbook... I've never come across it before, so this one was a nice surprise to me. It has added a really nice flavour to the dish which I was not expecting.
I suspect the version I have managed to get hold of is Summer Savoury (dried and from Spain) rather than the hardy Winter Savoury (Satureja montana) which is a hardy perennial. Summer Savoury (Satureja hortensis) is an annual. I think I have seen winter savoury growing in a garden centre, so I may just have to get some.
Has anyone else come across them, grows them?
