Shiny things. How to’s on fixes and repairs for things that can leave you frustrated.

I used to be pretty adept at fixing stuff but I'm now getting too old. I have a big box of tools that I've accumulated over the years, some power tools but mostly hand tools, that now rarely get used.

Luckily, labour is not expensive here so I can "get a man in".

For example, I had 2 x 24 year old ceiling fans which were faulty. Taking them down to asses and effect a fix means crawling around the un-boarded loft twice, once to remove them and once to replace them.

I bought two new fans and rang the sparks who appeared 3 days later (as advised) and installed them including rewiring both units. He charged me ฿500.00 (14 US$) and I gave him the old units.
