Shopping list or app?

I have to have a list or for sure I'll forget something. 🤔
It was on my list, but I got side tracked
My list on my phone looks something like this (condensed version).

I keep a running list and add an asterisk for items I need before I go. I remove the asterisk as I'm putting items in my cart.

I’ve used paper lists, typed out lists on my phone’s notepad app, and the list feature in Reminders, but now, I exclusively use the list in my Kroger app.

Why I like it is, I go to Aldi first, then Kroger, so when I get to Aldi, I open the Kroger app, pull up my list, and I can immediately see that something like a bag of sugar is $3.99 at Kroger, and the one right in front of me at Aldi is $2.79, so I can grab the Aldi one and swipe it off my Kroger list.

It’s handy because the Kroger list will show me any coupons/specials for the item, the per-ounce price so I can compare 20 ounces of this to 12 ounces of that, etc, so it’s really convenient for immediate price-checking.

We use our store app, though it is taken with a pinch of salt because you can only put 1kg quantities of fruit and veg in it, so we'll put 7 kg of nectarines to indicate 7 nectarines.

Curiously the click and collect option allows for individual numbers of everything in fruit and very, so when I have used it, getting 1kg of mushrooms was hard! Luckily the substitutions option allows for notes per item, so you can add notes and they'll ring you whilst they are doing your shopping (in store you'll actually see them taking products off the shelf, and walking around the store the same as any other customer).

I've unchecked all of today's items to show the list.

I shop 4+ different stores and a few don't show what they carry or have in stock. I gotta wing it, but sometimes know that Aldi will always have the best price on some things...if it's in stock!

At home we had a roll of paper with pencil hanging in the kitchen
As soon as you noticed something about to run out you wrote on it and the one going shopping teared it off and took it with
Of course we tried our luck at times and writing things like "paprika chips" on it, trying to copy mum or dad's hand writing ;)
