I actually have two questions about avocado's.

First do you store them at room temperature or in your fridge? This confuses me because at the grocery store the avocado is displayed at room temperature.

Which leads me to my second question. Is it better to buy a ripe green avocado or a darker more ripe one? I seem to have a hard time choosing the right one. Either it is too hard or too mushy!

Room temperature. If you can't find the right one, then go with too hard rather than too mushy. A couple of days later the too hard one will transform into a good one whereas the mushy will just keep getting mushier. :p

I always store them at room temperature with the other fruit we have purchased. (They are a fruit not a vegetable.)
That is unless we are having very hot weather and it is getting close to being ripe, in which case they, and the rest of the fruit, will find its way into the fridge simple to act as a method of preservation. But normally it will be at room temperature alongside the fruit bowl.
