Have to wait for @karadekoolaid input for a Branston Pickle recipe.
I'd be surprised if KKD spent time perfecting a Branston pickle recipe.
I tried that about 15 years ago. It must be somewhere in my recipe books, but it'll have to wait until July because this time, I left all the books at home. I couldn't have commercialised it, however, because of copyright.

SandwichShortOfAPicnic I had to look up Branston Pickles and THAT is a hard NOOOOOOO!!!
Now, I might try Spam & Dill Pickles, the sandwich cut into planks, that might be good, but no butter thank you.
The White Bread I like but HEY! Dude sliced the Spam incorrectly!! Go the other way dude.
I do have to admit, I did not watch the video completely, I went past all of the "twaddle", I like that word, I'm going to pinch that and start using it! Twaddle

No clue over here. It appears to be a cross sort of between pickles and a chutney. I'll wing it what's in the fridge...
Here's the Branston pickle ingredients list -

Vegetables in variable proportions (52%) (Carrot, Rutabaga, Onion, Cauliflower), Sugar, Barley Malt Vinegar, Water, Spirit Vinegar, Tomato Purée, Date Paste (Dates, Rice Flour), Salt, Apple Pulp, Modified Maize Starch, Colour (Sulphite Ammonia Caramel), Onion Powder, Concentrated Lemon Juice, Spices, Colouring Food (Roasted Barley Malt Extract), Herb and Spice Extracts

The date paste and apple pulp that bind it give it a bit of a gloopy consistency - making it sound appealing aren't I? 😆
Do you have piccalilli over there? It's kind of the same consistency.

Lucy was really annoying in that, hamming (spamming?) it up for the cameras with unrealistic revulsion; it's not like she was being asked to eat raw entrails or dog testicles or something.

Anyway, next time I've got some Spam in I'm gonna try that! (with government issue bread, which is my favourite).
She was a bit wasn't she but thats TV for you!

Still it does give a reasonable idea of the nations divided opinion on spam. A lot of people enjoy it purely for nostalgic reasons. Waitrose reported a 48% increase in sales around VE Day!
I'd guess young people won't have that same connection.

Personally when I had limited food options but had some Branson pickle portions I chose corned beef (which I don't like much either) and tinned ham.
The thought of Spam fritters still make me wanna chuck! 😂

Can't find it locally but I found a recipe thank you.

Gloopy is right up there with your loose meat sammie's... 😆

We do, and these days, Branston Pickle isn’t that hard to find here. I can’t get it at my local smaller Kroger, but I can get it at the bigger one. I had some on a cheese (and pickle) sandwich last week.

Also, here’s I fellow I watch from time to time making it:

This home-made version of Branston pickle goes brilliantly with cheese, ham, corned beef, etc. And it's really easy to make.

This fellow is something of a favorite of mine because he’s a little quirky. If he makes a mistake while cooking, he doesn’t stop and edit it out and fix it, he just keeps going, sometimes with disastrous (and hilarious) results. He’s highly opinionated…but there’s little logic or consistency in his opinions (like most of us). He can get quite flustered while cooking, so it’s fun to watch him sort of lose his grip as his videos progress.

The bit about this one that makes me laugh is that he constantly shifts between “We’re definitely making Branston Pickle” and “This most certainly isn’t Branston Pickle.”

I'm gonna look forward to watching that when I've got my jobs done!

Bookmarked thank you!

I do like him.
Some wobbly old boozer bumbling his way through his cooking jaunts and sharing his exploits.
But his recipe is rubbish for something that's supposed to be Branston, but you get a warning early on when calls it a turnip or a swede like they're the same thing 😆

Yep - it's called that Ploughman's pickle, and basically, it's a similar concoction to Branston's.There's also a Farmhouse pickle - same thing, different ingredients.
the one thing with his recipe is the celery. I love celery, but it doesn't go well in pickles, IMHO. I'd use cauliflower, green beans, pumpkin, turnip; but not celery.
