Spring time prep?

Since spring is approaching, is there anything that I need to do to my plants in my herb garden? They're still there, just kind of dead looking from winter. Do I need to have a talk with them, or make them dinner to start growing herbs again?

I'd put mulch down. Very effective at keeping weeds down and retaining water after it rains.

It will depend on what herbs they are.

I was curious how that worked out. Not many herbs make it through winter this far north. Sometimes parsley, oregano, and chives make it through but never basil.
