For the folks who are participating, what’s on the menu for SPD this year?

I have a couple of things picked out, but I can’t remember what I landed on, so that’ll have to be a later post. I know it’s beef (though not corned) and I know there’s some Guinness involved.

I’m heading to ALDI…I may have to try their stout instead.

I saw Guiness on sale at Meijer's sneak peek ad, sale starts Saturday 3/8. $13.99 for an 8-pack ($5 off with a mail in rebate).

Irish stew, barmbrack, colcannon, corned beef & cabbage.
When my kids were at school, they used to have an "International Day", where they were made to study the history, geography and culture of different countries and provide some food (as well) for the presentation. Couldn't do the corned beef, because it doesn't exist here, but managed all the rest for their stands.

Is lamb common in Venezuela? I know it's not so popular here in the US but it does seem easier to find now than it was in the past. I never saw it in the grocery stores or on restaurant menus when I lived in NW Florida and it just became easier to find in grocery stores up here over the past 5 years or so.

I did that once for my niece, and she wanted “something British” and settled on scones. I think it irritated her mom a little that she asked me instead of her - her mom ran a small catering business on the side and was a much better cook-baker than I was.

I bought ALDI’s Guinness clone (Maguire’s Draft Stout), got home and tossed it in the fridge.

I had to make room to fit it in, which involved moving around…the stout I already had in there. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes, but she knew that you were an Englishman born in a Kentuckohiana man's body.

They actually don't have a word for the tri-state down there, do they? It's just Kentuckiana for Kentucky and Indiana?

Generally, we just say “OKI” if we want to include all three, but that’s rare, because the three never quite want to be together. It’s usually Kentucky and Indiana making fun of us elitist snobs in Ohio.

Not really. It's available, but uncommon on restaurant menus.

Usually corned beef, potatoes cabbage (salad and/or some boiled). Sometimes just corned beef sandwiches and cabbage salad.

Ok, starter will be a puréed leek & potato soup, main will be beef in stout with herb dumplings, and dessert will be figured out later.

Planning on black velvet cocktails (stout & champagne) and Irish coffees for drinks.

I totally skipped St Pats day, it doesn't really get celebrated here.
Mind you I totally skipped St Davids day too :whistling:
