A couple of years ago I bought spice rack set. In my wisdom, I transferred my dried spices into the glass jars provided. All they had on them was a name label. The thing is, because I took the spices out of their original bottles, I now do not know their best-before date. Does anyone know how long it is safe to store spices or if the flavor will diminish after a while?

The flavour will diminish after a while - but to be honest, I would not worry about the best before date - drying is a method of preserving and as such it will be obvious if there is an issue and if you open a packets of say ground coriander seeds and can't smell anything after a slight shake, then just double the volume needed for the recipe and work on replacing the contents sooner rather than later. Keeping them in the dark will also extend their shelf life as well.

If the lids were on tightly then you should be okay, you did say that it was a couple of years ago. The only way to know is to try them out.
