I hear ya. It seems that everywhere is expensive. I'm doing everything I can to hopefully retire at 59.5, which is still many years away. Mrs. GH and I love where we live, but both of us like winter less and less every year and talk about doing a 3-4 month long term rental somewhere warm and coastal (and laid back) during the coldest months, and probably picking somewhere new each year. If we ever do that, Aruba and Florida are top contenders, but cost is always a concern.

If you can retire at that age then more power to yah! 🤠 I had to retire at 62 or become a cripple due to soft tissue issues so while not in the planned financial state it's still cheaper than a lack of mobility. 👍🙏

St. George Island isn't that expensive, compared to most other coastal spots in Florida, like Destin, Miami, Boca Raton, the keys, etc.

Aruba is lovely. spent my honeymoon there, 45 years ago! Florida, I'm afraid, I find very impersonal - but the weather is right.
If things were a bit more stable over here, I'd recommend Venezuela - but definitely not right now!

Puerto Rico is not terribly expensive, and as being a US territory, no passport required. My sister-in-law is from there and she and my brother have a house there. Beautiful beaches, mountains, waterfalls...
