The General Chat Thread (2026)

I was just reading up on pregnant deer, and apparently they love residential areas to give birth, especially those with trees and shrubs. And they just lie around to conserve energy. Birthing season is April to June.
Yep, fawns should be dropping now, so I'm sure she's fine and is probably just getting ready to give birth.

I got my ATT Internet-Air device today and it's setup and online! These speeds are x30 faster than my phone. 👏 Ever watch a movie and the loading circle thing pops on? 😬View attachment 144980
You're not going to know what's hit you.

Once I get a job, my first investment will be a 5G signal amplifier (unless there is an LEO other than starlink available by then), so that i can get a better phone signal in the house. The signal is really good when you're standing on the roof of the house, so i know it will address the issues here. (There is no (hard) phone line to the house)

It's awesome! Jiggety-jig 🍸 Same here on the lines coming in, or lack of. Earlier I was able to upload a picture w/out resizing it down and it was almost immediate, none of this 30 seconds later...

All alien to me. I suppose I am lucky. Its all instant here in Maidstone.

My house only has power and water coming in. There used to be a landline but it was demolished when the septic tank was installed so it's either satellite, flaky with our weather, or the cell tower thing I received today. I'm reasonably rural, not like SNSSO, but enough to appreciate the quiet and being surrounded by nature. Acres of woods, hills, creeks, and rivers. 🤠

We have landlines in the area fwiw and really poor/overpriced cellular/mobile service. Rural disadvantages.
I get neither! No landline and very limited 5G signal. forget 4G and when 3G was disabled, our 5G signal deteriorated which given 3G being disabled for the entire reason that it was for 5G to use the same frequency range makes no sense at all.

All I get is electricity and we have resorted to buying a generator as a backup as it is.
Everything else is off-grid

We live just south of a fairly large city (Akron, about 15 miles) but ironically and thankfully we have a well instead of city water. We got lucky in that our well is deep and yields delicious water. We do have sewer, and excellent internet and cell phone service here. And we still have our landline lol!
