This is a relatively simple recipe that I use to make years ago. I haven't made these in awhile mainly due to the fact that I don't want to take the time, not that these are time consuming but for me I guess the older I got the less patience I had. Well here is the recipe.

1 cup brown sugar soften and packed

2/3 cup flour

1 egg

1/2 cup butter softened or melted

1 cup Walnuts (optional)

Cream cheese frosting (optional)

Add brown sugar, egg and butter together, using a mixer at medium speed mix together. Once blended add the flour and the walnuts then blend together. Pour mixture onto a grease cookie sheet and spread it. Cook in over an 350 degrees and let cook for up to thirty minutes keeping an eye on the mixture to make sure it doesn't burn. Once cooked take out of over and let cool off. Spread cream cheese frosting over the cookies. Cut into squares.

Note cutting these won't be easy to cut because of the chewiness of the bars.
