I read on something recently that when making a tonic water-based cocktail (e.g. gin and tonic), the majority of the drink is really tonic water----so you should probably fork over a few extra dollars to buy a good tonic water.

Do you have any tonic water recommendations? I'm in love with Fever Tree tonic waters right now. They have several varieties, like regular, mediterranean, and a lower calorie version. I buy them on Amazon, which is much cheaper than buying it at a local store.

I always use Schweppes tonic water. I use it exclusively for gin & tonic though, I wouldn't drink it just like that

I don't really notice a lot of difference between Scheweppes, Canada Dry, and Seagram's, actually. I'll also buy the store brand if that is what is cheapest. When I was a kid, I loved Tonic Water by itself. Now I drink vodka tonics with a little lime.

Weirdly, I come from a family of gin drinkers, but I just hate the stuff.
