Turm' & 'Rants
Cocktail with turmeric and black currants | Serves 4-5 | Preparation 15-20 minutes
Instructions
Press the lemon juice and set aside. On a small skillet, mix the sugar, turmeric powder and black currants. Mix a couple of minutes on medium-high heat until the currants have broken apart and the sugar has dissolved into syrup. Let cool and press gently through a sieve.
Put a handful of crushed ice in a lowball glass/grogi. Pour 1-2 teaspoons of currant-turmeric syrup on top. Add 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 40 ml (4 cl) rum. Mix well (or use a shaker). Garnish with 3-5 black currants and a slice of lemon.
Edit: I encourage to experiment with all kinds of alc/non-alc beverages and mixers. E.g. light rum, vodka, ginger ale, sparkling wine or apple juice could match with the tangy syrup.
