Had to look up spin-up tornado - is that the same as gustnado which is what came up?My area is past the spin-up tornadoes but praying for the rest in the path. Those are the worst in that there is practically zero warning. Whoosh, there it is, an F2 in the driveway.
No, gustnados aren't really tornadoes. A bit below.Had to look up spin-up tornado - is that the same as gustnado which is what came up?

Spin-up tornadoes are ones that develop very rapidly with no real warning. That’s what makes them so dangerous, even though they’re generally weaker and don’t stay together as long. They’re still strong enough to do some real damage, though. And a spin up tornado?
There are lots of them in Ohio...Spin-up tornadoes are ones that develop very rapidly with no real warning. That’s what makes them so dangerous, even though they’re generally weaker and don’t stay together as long. They’re still strong enough to do some real damage, though.
They pop up very quickly, blow the roof off the house, suck your MIL up the chimney, then disappear…then a new one appears a mile down the road. Watching them on weather radar is like watching the bubbles pop up in a pot of simmering soup. There’s one…there’s another one…that one’s gone…there’re two more…
