What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today? (2018-2022)

Just a jar of date and tamarind chutney, I've been out and needed a new supplier. This one looks alright. It's hard to get s good one. My friend bought heaps of stuff from verkerks factory shop, they specialise in salamis etc.

Do you ever cook them in shell? It does add flavour - plus you can use shells/heads to make great stock/sauce.

I never cook them in the shells. However, we occasionally boil up the heads and shells to make stock for tom yam.

A dozen of those are due to be in the defrosted sambal sauce for my wife's tea this evening. The others have been packed for the freezer.

The reason I mentioned it is that I recently cooked some with shell and (from the same lot) without shell. There was a definite improvement in flavour from those cooked in shell.

That's probably my wife's preferred coffee additive, followed by Frangelico and Bailey's. She also drinks amaretto on its own and in other cocktails (like an amaretto sour).
