I just posted my drink in the "what are you eating" thread.
Now let's see if I can get it from the gallery (gotta try at some point in time)
And no... No idea where to find it.
Anyway, I have a glass of home brewed beer. And a side of salami and olives

Open your profile and click on albums.

OK
Need bit more info
I click on profile picture, I get

So where to go now?
@mods : happy if you take this to its own thread

Looking at your post in the what you ate topic, it looks like you simply attached your image to the post as usual.

In order to make use of an image in the Media Gallery, you have to specifically upload it to the Media Gallery first. I don’t see where you’ve done that.

It’s been ages since I’ve used the Media Gallery, so give me a bit to familiarize myself with it again.

badjak Find your post where you put the pic and you can, if it's not on your phone still, download it to repost properly and then delete the oopsed post. I'm with TR on not using the media gallery. I've a reason for not using it but can't remember why ATM... It had some limitation(s) I couldn't manage...

Ok, be warned, this is all done from my phone, but you should be able to figure out where the same buttons are hidden on the laptop version of the forum:

That’s the top-left menu, then the Media dropdown is expanded to reveal some options.

I have some albums already created, and those pop up after I click on the Your albums link.

From there, Add media.

To be continued…

After that, click Upload.

Then choose an image from whatever device you’re using, you’ll see it displayed like above. You can give it a description, add tags, and (unlike me, don’t be like me), give it a nice title.

Once you save that, scroll to the bottom and you’ll see various formats for copying the link to the image. I don’t know why, but I’ve always chosen the Gallery BB code one - just click the little copy icon to the left of the text.

Go to where you want to post it, and just paste it in, as above.

Press post, and that’s how everyone will see it displayed.

Now, some additional info: what took me eight steps to do, SatNavSaysStraightOn can probably do in two. I’m just not that bright. :laugh:

Also, this works great for reusing images in different posts that you’re submitting at that time - you can just keep pasting in that Gallery BB code into whatever posts you’re putting up. I’ve used it mainly for challenge entries, because I’ll usually post a pic in the recipe, in the challenge post itself, and in the what I ate today topic, so that’s three posts for one pic.

Where it’s terrible, IMO, is trying to go back to find a picture you uploaded a year ago…or three years ago…and reusing that. Without some sort of map, that’s nearly impossible, especially once you get a couple hundred pics uploaded. That was the main reason I quit using it, I could never find anything if it was more than a couple of months old.

Yep, a lack of indexing is ineffective for a large dataset.

I have not been through the thread yet. I'm only just up. But we have a dedicated section on the media gallery. Have you read through it?

That's where you just find the item in the gallery, copy the bit of code needed and paste it in the post.

Code:
[GALLERY=media, 14006][/GALLERY]

[GALLERY=media, 14014][/GALLERY]
And you're done

That's where you just find the item in the gallery
That’s the difficult part, though. I don’t have the patience or time to scroll through the 2,000+ images I have to find the one I might want, especially on a phone. It’s the “just find the item” part that’s the difficulty.

I see you have 97 pages... 🤪

I think that's why I don't use the media. If I need to reference a pic I'll post a link to the original post of the pic.

I remember Yorky, the King of Images, he had an external spreadsheet, with all his images cross-referenced and all that, with their respective tags, etc, to facilitate finding his stuff.
