Anything but here, yet it was still over 38°C by midday. The sky is a browny colour with ash falling from it this morning! We're back to whitish brown clouds again now with a bluish brown sky in the background. It will stay that way until just before our just after dark, but not long enough to take advantage of cooler temperatures before the cold air compacts the smoke layer again forcing it to spread outwards instead of upwards...
Man you guys are getting it rough. Hope it rains, soon. I believe Queensland have had rain??

yes, Queensland had quite a bitof rain.
there's a tiny chance of rain tonight, absolutely tiny mind you. the main chance is dy thunderstorms... more fire risk. this weekend is another very high risk weekend. 40-42°C. we're going to go swimming at the local(ish) indoor swimming pool. It is at least somewhere we can get hot sweaty and have a shower afterwards without worrying too much about the water level in our tank.

Tonight at least we have made it to 30°C outside and not had to have left the windows closed. Right now at 7:30pm we've managed to have the windows open for 15 minutes. Bets are on for how long we can actually keep them open.
