They say "once in a blue moon" because it's a rare occurence; once every 14 years, apparently, when we get 13 full moons a year instead of 12. The moon's orbit is closest to the earth, so the moon looks bigger and brighter - but never blue.
These pictures were taken at 7.30 pm and then again around 9.30. Very bright!

Blue moons happen about every 2 to 3 years. They don't look any different than any other full moon. The super moon is a full moon that happens when the moon is at its closest to the Earth. It doesn't look much different, either. A super moon does effect tides. This one may have made Hurricane Idalia storm surge a little worse.

1937 Cord 812 Phaeton Convertible Owned by Amelia Earhart

National Historic Vehicle Register No. 33

Amelia Earhart acquired this Cord 812 Phaeton less than a year before she, navigator Fred Noonan and her Lockheed 10E Electra disappeared over the South Pacific in 1937. In September 1936, Earhart was famously photographed standing with the Cord and the airplane she would ultimately take on her final flight.

And this little beauty.

One of Porsche’s first factory-built race cars, the Type 540 was nicknamed the America Roadster as the model was conceived thanks to the influence of John von Neumann and Max Hoffman for the U.S. market. Von Neumann’s stepdaughter raced this important example.

The Cord 810/812 cars were pretty novel in their day. They were front-wheel-drive, and offered an optional supercharged V8. I have photographed several of them. Cord was a sister brand to Auburn and Duesenberg.

Did you get any shots of the front of the Cord. That nose is the calling card for that model of Cord.

Photo number 2 - motorbikes (?) where one might expect to see wheelie bins. What do they do with their rubbish?
I don’t know if it’s true there, but I just read an article from a woman living in an Italian city somewhere, and she addressed this, saying that different types of trash are collected on different days (paper on Mondays, organic material on Tuesdays, glass on Wednesdays, etc), so there isn’t very much on any given day, and where the trucks can’t get up the little side streets, the trash collectors pick it up by hand and run it back to the truck.

She also said that a lot of places where she lives provide community drop-off bins that are much more accessible to the trucks and a person can choose to carry their own trash to one of those if they prefer.
