Cooking At Night

The only time i have coked at night was for night flying ,
Other than that I sleep at night!
Hundreds of bakers are hard at it every night

Done chips & burgers after getting in from a late split shift. And before starting an early one.
Both around the same time, cookingwise.

Do you wake up to cook at night, let's say at 01 am. I do wake and cook whenever I feel hungry, even in the middle of the night.

Oh no I can't cook to satisfy my hunger. I'd be as big as a bus and I am already a little too heavy. What I have done on the odd occasion when my dogs get me up to go outside is start my baking of meat that I might have had seasoned before so it's finished by the time I get up officially mostly on a Sunday morning.

I have been known to cook a full English breakfast in the early hours. Don't ask what I had been up to earlier...
:D:giggle::wink: Late night exercise can leave a person very exhausted and hungry.

worked in a casino in the 80s and breakfast was served from midnight till 3am ,meals sometimes fall on what hours you work

I cook at whatever time I want, especially when I am living by myself. But when I was living with my folks, or when I have people spending the weekend, I avoid doing that just because I don't want them to think I'm nuts. But the thing is when I am living by myself, especially when I was working for myself so I wasn't following a traditional work schedule, I would take naps throughout the day and sometimes be up all night. In fact, I would often do my grocery shopping at like 11pm or 1am, when nobody was in the stores, because it was so much less stressful - and when I would get home, I might sometimes make something to eat with some of the stuff I had just bought.

OhioTom76, maybe I should consider late night cooking like you as I sometimes find it hard to close my eyes and go to sleep. Between my dogs and my overactive mind, I can be up way too late. The only thing is that I don't live alone and I worry that I would keep the others up with my banging saucepans and closing cupboard doors.
I must confess I prefer shopping in the early hours of the morning. Sadly I only get to that when I travel. The latest any supermarket closes in my country is about 10pm.

Now that I'm on this new medication, I wake up about once a night to eat something. last night I got up at 12:45 and ate a reeses cup.

My husband and I will sometimes indulge in a late night snack after midnight. We used have burgers which I would quickly fry up and top with the usual lettuce, pickles, cheese. We've switched now to enjoying sandwiches or wraps. At least it's bit healthier. If I'm feeling lazy and we have a hankering for something sweet, I'll make milkshakes.

I am thinking more and more about this night cooking especially for my Sunday meals which is a big thing in our home. Everybody expects me to prepare this big spread and these days I feel really drained and want at least my Sunday to be relaxing. How do I cook the night before and it be 'fresh" for the Sunday. I am going to give it a go this Sunday..well Saturday night.

I don't tend to cook at night. I always eat early. I think if I was cooking at night I would have heartburn. I have sometimes cooked at night though if I have a big event the next day like Thanksgiving dinner, or am going to a special picnic that starts in the morning for instance. These are the things you need to do sometimes.

I do that too. At times I stay awake doing some work online and find myself starving by the time it's time to retire. Often times I fix a quick meal of something that is easy to cook. Macaroni and and tomato sauce is my favorite.

The only thing I'm cooking at night is something instant. It could be regular ramen or even a pack of oatmeal. Heck, I consider cooking to be putting some cereal and milk in a bowl.

Often it is hard for me to sleep or to stay asleep, when I have one of those nights I will get up and make muffins or cookies for the next day. I am not hungry just have a need to do something. I try to be quiet to avoid waking anyone else in the house but the aroma of the muffins will get some other member of the family up, it does not happen often and if it is a school night I suffer in silence.

I do not think I have ever woken up in the middle of the night to actually cook. I might microwave something to heat it up, but have never actually made a meal. I would be too scared of catching something on fire because I was not fully awake.
