It wasn't (probably) an apple.
It(The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil) was off limits and should have realized from that command that it was able to be eaten. Something she saw was the final trigger for her to:
  1. Realize the fruit was indeed edible
  2. See that it was pleasing to the eye
  3. Desire it for gaining wisdom
Truth is, we don't know if wasn't an apple.

And since the Garden of Eden has never been found, we will never know.
Oh now here is the thing, Greek, Roman and Babylonian Mythologies all predate the Bible.
Stories are the same but yet the older ones are classified as myths but the Bible is true.
