Hello everyone! I have just found this site today and it looks very interesting! I am a home cook and spend my weekends making all sorts of things, nothing is off limits I will give anything a go! I'm not cooking at the moment as I am having a new kitchen fitted so haven't been able to do anything for 2 weeks and probably not going to be able to do anything for a least another week! However once its done it will be full steam ahead!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Hi @Martin and welcome to CookingBites :welcome:. We aim to be a friendly and supportive forum and we love new members! Please feel free free to join in our discussions or start a new thread. You could tell us what you cooked or ate today in our regular thread: What did you cook, eat or drink today (November 2018)? And we usually have some challenges running - at the moment there is the: Cookingbites Recipe Challenge: Bananas and Plantain but I'm about to launch a new 'Prize Challenge'. How wonderful to have a brand new kitchen - it will be worth the upheaval, I'm sure.

Thanks @morning glory for the warm welcome! I would love to tell you what has been eaten alas no kitchen means take aways at the moment which is a bit embarrassing. Once the kitchen is done I will be sharing all sorts of things as I settle in!

We ain't snobbish . You can tell us about your takeaways.:) @Yorky lives in Thailand where takeaways are the norm and I suspect a lot better than UK fare.

Welcome, Martin.

I post my take aways often. I work off hours, so I eat out almost as much as I eat at home.

We all love food porn here, be it made at home, or where you can get it.

For some reason these lyrics just popped into my head: If you can't be with the one you love, honey, love the one you're with.

In our case, that would be food.

im fed up with take aways :) Although actually last night I found some chinese chicken i had pre made in the freezer so threw it in the microwave which was actually yummy! Going to go out for dinner tonight so will share what was gobbled up later!

When I had my kitchen replaced I set up a sort of make-shift kitchen in the cellar with microwave and toaster oven. It's was quite surprising how much I managed to create using just those appliances. I got a bit fed up carting things up and down the cellar steps though.

Hope you have a good meal tonight.

my kettle is on the landing for my coffee as I work at home (or away - mostly away at the moment) so am working upstairs. My friend is having her kitchen done and she has moved her gas bbq into the kitchen! genius!

Make sure your friend has done the dish soap bubble test on all of the connections in the gas grill. Anytime you move a grill, this should he done to check for leaks, but especially indoors.

I cannot confirm or deny that they are better because my last UK "carry oot" was a jumbo hotdog in 2002. The carry oots here though are certainly very good in the main.

I spent most of '78 just outside Plymouth. Roborough. Mainly the Lopes Arms.
