I own a steam gourmet and I am shocked to see the plastic ware with the label recycling label "7".
Apparently you can determine how safe or chemical free your plastic is with these labels that you see at the bottom of the plastic container or water bottle.Here is a link on how you can use safer plastics http://www.state.nj.us/humanservices/opmrdd/health/bpa.html.
