It really depends on the pasta dish and whether or not it has a sauce. Red sauce, red wine; white sauce or no sauce can be paired with white wine depending on what is served on or mixed into the pasta. Rose' is yet another option, but as I am not big on sparkling wines, this is one I am not likely to choose with a pasta dish.
As CG says, it would depend entirely on what was accompanying the pasta and who I was sharing the meal with.
However, if it was pasta on its own, then I would grab the closest bottle to hand - anything would do!!
