CookingBites Policy on Images and Copyright

Definition: The term “image” includes both photographs and videos. CookingBites does not host videos directly: they may only be linked from external sites such as YouTube or Vimeo.

Your Own Images: If you took the photograph or filmed the video yourself, you keep full copyright ownership at all times. Uploading or linking your work on CookingBites does not transfer copyright to us. By posting, you grant CookingBites permission to display your image within the forum for community discussion — including routine moderation such as moving, quoting, or duplicating a post when creating or merging threads. We will never otherwise reuse, reproduce, or republish your image elsewhere on the site or on other platforms without your express permission.

Public Domain and Licensed Images: You may share public domain or openly licensed material (for example, Creative Commons) only when it is legally permitted to do so. Always include a visible credit or citation for the original creator or source. Do not attempt to bypass any site restrictions that prevent downloading or sharing. If the copyright owner requests removal, the image or link will be taken down without notice.

Uncertain or Unverified Images: If you’re unsure whether an image or video may legally be used or shared, don’t post it. It’s safer for everyone to find or create content you know you have the right to use. When in doubt, ask a moderator for guidance.

Non-Cooking and Sensitive Images: CookingBites will never claim copyright over any image. However, we reserve the right to remove any image that violates copyright, privacy, or suitability for a family audience. Images featuring children should only include members of your immediate family, and only with parental consent. Please do not post images of other people’s children or any content that could reasonably be considered inappropriate.
