Adding chicken to daal

If I'm making daal, aka essentially lentil soup, can I add raw chicken at to the lentils in the water at the start?

I don't see why not. Since lentils take quite a long time to cook, the chicken will be almost certainly done as well by the time they reach the right tenderness.
