Myself and my wife are unsure as to what side of the foil goes next to the food, Shiny or dull?
Can anyone answer this.

I had a Land Rover press vehicle for a magazine photoshoot about ten years ago which had voice activated navigation. I couldn't get it to work -- none of us could. Just for grins I started using a fake British accent and got some response. Then I asked it to find the nearest "petrol," with my fake accent and it worked. It did not understand "gasoline" or "gas" as is common here.

I use dull side to the food but if I'm packing a bacon negg pie, I double wrap meaning the foods on shiny side, so to me it doesn't matter.
