Are you a super sarnie maker?

The thing is, that the Ultimate sandwich is the one you fancy there and then. Sometimes it's a complicated multilayered thing, sometimes it's cheese and pickle...

Sometimes the best sandwich is bread and butter.

When I was at school I used to experiment and often had creations that had cream cheese, ham, pineapple, walnuts, apple, grated cheddar cheese, pickle, chicken, egg, salad, etc. all in together.

My favourite sandwich has tomato salsa on one slice of bread, garlic mayonnaise on the other, and tuna and sweetcorn in the middle. I think too many ingredients just make for a 'busy' taste sensation, when all the flavours compete with each other.

On the subject of favourite sandwiches at school, my particular passion was for bread and butter and Lyle's Golden Syrup. Not very healthy, but wonderfully satisfying. I daren't buy golden syrup these days, because I know I'd just scoff the lot on sandwiches. Even wholemeal bread can't make golden syrup a healthy eating choice, unfortunately. :(
