Beans -safe or dangerous?

As WC Fields once said...
Not kidding, and not sure what you mean.

Too much plain water can seriously mess up electrolytes in your body, and you can die in extreme cases. Course you would have a severe mental condition/pica or you would be under torture to drink enough to do that, but it's entirely possible.

This is true. I know an ex alcoholic who drank gallons of water and ended up in hospital.

We see it here.
It gets hot, and some people are adamant they will only drink water and then drink 4 or 5 litres or so. Very silly.
I do drink that sort of amount in our hot months, but vary between water, tea, ors, soft drinks and beer :)
I always advised people to drink at least 1 softie or beer for every 2 or 3 bottles of water (1.5 litres)

What is ors?

Getting back on track, just to note that slow cookers do reach (water) boiling point. Most/all have at least 2 settings: high, to simmer and cook, low to keep hot at just below boiling point. If beans (or anything else cooked in water) slow cook on high they cook perfectly adequately temp wise. Just saying.
🙂

Agree, Z-Cook. Slow cookers are great if you want to stew meat, for example, low and slow. I made a Guinness stew with chuck steak for my son once - a good 12 hours. Approved. Not for beans, though.
With beans, however, I don't think there's a better way than to soak overnight, bring to a rolling boil, leave it like that for 5 minutes, then lower the heat until the beans are done.
