Love me some good biscuits!
This made three cut ones and a cathead.
Ingredients
Preheat your oven to 500°F/260°C. Measure your flour in a mixing bowl. My butter and shortening weren't room temperature so I microwaved for 30 seconds. Add the buttermilk to the butter and shortening and mix together. It won't be homogeneous but the fat will break up into smaller bits.
Make a well in the center of the flour and pour in 3/4 of the buttermilk mixture. Mix it together by scraping in from the sides until the dough just starts to pull away from the sides.
Best with a 3"/7 1/2cm round cutter. Bake until tops just turning brown or toothpick cones out clean.
