Can you freeze lemons and limes?

I'm wondering if you can do limes and lemons. We have 2 lemon trees that I squeeze juice and freeze. But can you do fresh ones?

You can freeze anything. It's what happens when you thaw it out that matters.

Last year a neighbour ( who seems to have an entire orchard of lemon/lime trees) gave me a huge bag of lemons.
I drank loads of tequila.
I made enough lemon meringue pies to feed an army.
I made lemon bars.
I made lemon cordial - that´s a good keeper.
I made preserved lemons.
I made Indian Sweet lime pickle, and sour lime pickle.
I grated lemon zest.
I made lemon cheesecake.
But I never froze a single one.

If they are like freezing other fresh fruits and vegetables, when you thaw them out, they will taste fine, but will be very soft.

Yes they go soft when thawed but are still OK for juice. Not much good for zesting or slicing though.

Hahaha! I can imagine zesting a frozen lime.

Funnily though I think maybe you could zest a lemon when frozen solid (not that I've tried it). But not when thawed.

I routinely freeze my fresh lemons. They are harder to juice when defrosted because the already very soft rind gets softer. I still freeze them while though. It's easier.

Oh and I have been known to freeze the odd lime as well. They are easier to juice than fresh ime.
