Christmas dinner starters

I'm going to make this cold spinach dip that I make sometimes during the holidays and serve with fresh pumpernickel bread.

I was wondering what to make as an appetiser for tonight's get together, and eventually decided on cheese straws. Homemade pastry, Asiago cheese (where the heck that came from, I don't know  ) and poppy seeds.
First lot came out browned on one side and white on the other. Didn't turn them. Second lot came out lightly browned. Third lot perfect.
All cooked for the same time!
I'm going to take a pot of my sweet chile jam and that'll be used for dipping, if necessary.

Here's the cheese straws:

iffin' your keen on cheese stange - this is a "item" I "discovered" entirely by accident, and now intentionally 'remade' . . .

backstory: once made a cheese souffle. it over filled the pot and ran on to the sheetpan below.

the today's "how to" -
make a roux, add cheese, fold into stiff peak whipped egg whites.
put mixture into piping bag.
pipe strips with decorative tip of choice onto oiled flat pan . . .
bake hot&fast.

super yummy
