I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

Yeah, I went on a vacation for 4 months, when I came back we had mold in our bath tub.

Yep. I agree.
So I don't think the fact the kettle was plastic had anything to do with it.
Same would have happened with stainless....

I once had a stainless steel one. it never happened that I know of.

I have a Keurig thing that gets a LOT of use - I'm never without a coffee. It also gets cleaned out with white vinegar every week even though it has a (supposed) self cleaning cycle.
To be honest, when we loose power I opnly worry about three things - being able to recharge my wifes phone if needed, our Pellet Stove for heat and mosdt importantly, my Coffee Maker

I'm going to make a cuppa Joe now!! It's freezing cold outside now!!! 25, but it feels like 12!!!!! The wind chill is not making things that much better!! I almost couldn't get in the car because the doors all froze!!!!!

Also, for my cup of coffee, i drink it with either real cream (half & half) or a flavored creamer. I don't use the powdered creamer. It messes up my stomach. Or at times, I drink it black with just Spenda.

Last weekend we went to a friends house to see his beautiful, fish tank, he has a ninja coffee maker so made us both a fresh coffee, it was lovely, smooth not bitter so we made a purchase.

I drink my coffee black, no sugar.
I also don't want my coffee to taste like hazelnuts or peppermint
This..... we have a thermos coffee maker. What I like about this is the coffee stays hot for hours while at the same time not getting a burnt or bitter taste to it.

We have a DeLonghi that grinds and perks. It's the first thing I go to when I come downstairs in the morning.
