Coffee makers. Who has One?

I guess that the coffee makers on the planes do that also. They don't heat the water to boiling. Seems like no machine does that, even though it seems pretty hot. I'm learning a lot about the way that coffee makers work. I was always under the impression that the water was always boiling hot!!! It isn't. It comes pretty close though. I guess that the only way that happens is when you boil water on the stove in a pot or tea kettle when you make instant coffee, which I used to drink before I started making coffee from the ground beans. :wink:
 
Did any of you know that if you use distilled water in your coffee maker, that you might be sending it to an early grave? There's something that just don't mix here, but you can ruin a coffee maker to the point where you have no choice but to throw it away!!! I once had a small Keurig machine, added some distilled water to it & it died to the point that it wouldn't work any more!! The hot water just wouldn't come out at all!!!! It was only 4 months old. Had to throw it away!! Couldn't even send it back to Amazon! I paid about $80 for this piece of junk, yet it ended up in the trash!!!! Keurig is so unreliable!!!!! :ninja:

Boiling water scorches the grounds? I never heard that one before. All coffee makers that I know of heats the water to about 194 or so degrees. It may be below the boiling point, but it IS hot. In fact, the manual tells you to put cold water into the reservoir because it gets heated anyway. :wink:

If the water is to hot it leaches out bitter tasting elements.
 
I've never had that problem. All I know is that I had so many discrepancies & troubles with Keurig machines that i never want to be bothered with one again!!!!! I'm now enjoying my Cuppa Joe everyday & it's good!!!! :wink:
