Has anyone found out that as they age, they can no longer drink something?

I'm trying to work out why some mornings I can't keep brekkie down. Usually it's just a cause of feeling nauseous but yesterday it was physical and if I follow my endocrinologist's instructions exactly, I'm meant to inject emergency steroids and report to hospital each time I throw up (it goes for diarrhoea as well).

It seems to always happen after breakfast and "tastes" of coffee. My OH enjoyed his morning brew (I even bought him his coffee bean grinder for his birthday which he still uses each time he needs to grind a fresh batch (about once a week)), but it might be a case that i can no longer tolerate coffee?

As a test I'm moving over the UK instant coffee for a week, but right now I'm not convinced that's working either.

I went off coffee in a big way the first time I got pregnant. Hormones just said a big 'NO!'. I still don't like it and drink it once in a blue moon and then it has to very milky.

So, it could be hormonal maybe. Just drink tea?

I've found that coffee no longer tastes strong enough for me to like it. I've even made it double strength and the taste doesn't alter. Mind you I've got a percolator that will perc as long as there's heat and water so you can make it black as coal and not even see the bottom of the spoon...

Had some up at Moms the other day and she was making hers with an old French drip setup. I've got one too but it requires more attention than me smelling it to know it's done.

... or maybe fruit tea? I prefer that to herbal teas which can be rather bitter. When I went off coffee it tasted really 'metallic' to me. It still does now, but less so.

The other thing about not being able to keep breakfast down might simply be because your stomach needs to settle (not sure what I mean by that!). I know that the older I've got the longer it takes before I feel hungry after I get up.

I went through quite a long period not drinking coffee, which had more to do with lousy quality instant coffee that was served here instead of coffee coffee :)
Anyway, I have a cup of coffee every morning, seldom more than 1.
Sometimes I hate the idea of coffee and mostly I'll have a cold or other nasty coming up straight after. Seems that coffee is the first thing that I can't tolerate when I am not feeling well
So coffee in the morning (aeropress), tea during the remainder of the day.
Both black, no sugar please
