Mmmmmm! I love cookbooks and have accumulated more than the average bear. In my nearly 80 years on this planet, I have somehow managed to acquire a few thousand of the wonderful foodie tomes. I have been known to read them like others read a novel. I especially like the ones produced by community organizations and churches. Wow! Some of the recipes in the rural church cookbooks take me back to days long gone and many of the recipes included in them are submitted by, usually, the best cooks of the congregations. I could almost feel myself gaining extra weight just from reading the recipes!

I also enjoy cookbooks that take me places, which is why I take pleasure in opening ones that will whisk me to Sicily, Provence, Munich or other food rich parts of the world.

Don't get me started on desserts.........................:p:

I read cookbooks :)
They are more than just a collection of recipes to me

I can sit for hours & read a cook book, especially the old Betty Crocker one ('72 edition)!! I love that one! It probably has recipes not found in the newer books. I'm smaaaarrrrter than the average bear!!!!!

Great resource, that. Good for hard to find books, books to check out, or ones you don't want or need printed copies of.

That is a lot! Do you find yourself rereading or revisiting favourite ir particular ones?

Yes, same. Grew up reading food authors along with all the others - it's often where I picked out recipes I wanted to try. Many food related books are now listed along with travel writing in catalogues

Yes, the old Betty Crocker ones are great. I'm fortunate to have 2 of the 1950 editions. One, in pristine condition, is a teacher's copy.

I had to double check that! I thought I had a large collection (about 300). But you have a few thousand? That's a library! Where do you keep them all?
I keep a few near the kitchen, which are some of my favorite "old standbys." The rest are in bookcases in our den and in a floor-to-ceiling bookcase in a guest bedroom.

Here's an old picture cookery book that I just got from Amazon. It was first published in 1950, & it is still being published today. It came brand new in the loose leaf format.
