Cooking for Children

My boy's first recipe was finger grinding stuff, with which I oiled a pan and fried little crisps or cookies out of his mixture.

I believe he chose string cheese (individual tubes of stringy mozzarella cheese), potato chips, table water crackers, cheddar cheese goldfish crackers, a little jar of squeeze mustard, and we gave him a ramekin of minced onion, squeeze mayo, eggs, and then he had the supervised choice of anything in the fridge or pantry.

It was fun. He ended up with what would otherwise be described as a cheese cookie, or fancier, an Italian Frico, and it was pretty good, too.

I let my boys help with making cooking dough and cake mixes and things. They always love to get in the kitchen with me. My oldest is learning how to do all the meals in the house. I have been working with him for about 6 months now. I am about to start with working with a knife. I am scare but the sooner he learns the better.
