Cooking with lemon juice.

As I'm into preserving and jams and stuff, I may need lemon juice on occasion. I've bought a bottle of Jif (well, Sainsburys own brand version). Will this do for jams, for does it need to be fresh? I have an idea that the lemon juice in jams is for pectin, or some chemical reason, rather than just flavour, and wondered if it's affected by being bottled.

I'll buy fresh lemons if I have to, a bottle in the cupboard just seemed like the easy option if it'll work.
 
I just prefer to use fresh lemon juice, as one thing about making jams yourself is that you can keep the ingredients all natural.
