Copelands of New Orleans (restaurant)

Kenner and Harvey are both suburbs of NOLA. The kids lived in Kenner for a while.

When I drove to my Dad's in Mississippi, I'd always stop on my way home in Slidell at a place that had excellent quality crawfish at a fair price and load up with 60 to 80 pounds.
I pretty much stayed in the French Quarter and Metairie.

Crab claws ordered and arriving on Tuesday. I had to go to a specialist on-line fishmonger as they are not available in supermarkets here (unless you buy a whole crab). Anyway, I thought they might be useful for some other dishes. I'll make a stab at my version of seafood pirogue mid week hopefully.

Meanwhile, I've several other aubergine dishes to make/post.

I think it was originally in New Orleans. The founder was from there. Branches are here:

No its on all their menus as pirogue. Pirogue, I learned, means a narrow boat often used by Cajuns because of its ability to skim across the shallow swamps in South Louisiana. Seems to me it should be aubergine halves or quarters rather than slices in this dish (so more like a boat).

Sounds good. I would just leave out the eggplant. :)

We had one locally years ago. I remember liking it. We didn’t have a lot of moneytogooutto eat often. It closed but I think it was the location. All the restaurants in the area closed.

Like any thing else. Some places make great crab claws. I love them. But some places are just ok. We have a local owned place that I would go for just for their fried crab claws. That and the fried green tomatoes.
