There's a way to make McDs fries but it takes an overnight step in the freezer.

Boil once, fry really quick, freeze, fry again. Times depends on the size of the cut. At this point in my life French Fries aren't that complicated. 🤷‍♂️

…and if I remember correctly, a little sugar in with the salt.

I have some “French Fry Seasoning” and checking the ingredients, the first one listed is salt, and the second one is sugar, so that tracks.

Yep, and a Tbsp or 2 of vinegar when you boil. Something about keeping the pectin together.

Ah I get the can't afford it bit but the "can't see the kitchen" bit intrigues me?!
Some restaurants make their kitchens visible to the diners, with the idea that if you can see it, then you don’t have to worry about any monkey business going on.

Some fast food right up through some top-notch restaurants will be situated like that. We ate at a very nice, upscale Italian place in St. Louis a couple of years ago that was like that - you couldn’t really see the kitchen from the dining room, but if you got up and walked around, it was on full display (and was quite interesting to see).

Me…I’m more of a “What I don’t know can’t bother me” kind of a person. :okay:

Some commercial kitchens, in the interest of profit, might not be as scrupulous in their methods and procedures as you would like in their preparation of your order.

You order something with guacamole and get blitzed peas with avocado flavoring...
