Copycat McD French fries

I'm with you on the "can't see the kitchen". And I rarely eat out mostly because of that, but also because I can make food as good or better at home in general. If I am going to splurge at a restaurant, it isn't going to be McDonald's!
Totally agree!

I'm happy to eat a Mc Cheeseverger and large fries. I would never want to duplicate them; why? I actually enjoy chips; big, fat, rectangular pieces of fried potato; but sometimes, I can't be bothered, and McDs hits the spot.
NOT here in Caracas, mind you; only in the US or UK.

Burger King's fries are better, but no, I wouldn't replicate either. I also don't like big fat chips (we have a version of those here called steak fries, meh). I do like thinly sliced potatoes into what we call frips "fried chips" that are like what people in the UK call crisps. I also have a fondness for crinkle fries. Fast food fries are generally too thin and don't really convey a nice potato flavor. In fact, in the past when I did eat at a FF restaurant, I would never get the "meals" with fries and a drink, I would usually just get the sandwich and drink water.

Feel that. Sometimes a plate of trash that somebody else fixed! 👏

Double meat, no lettuce, no tomato, two servings of MG's mayo, and a side of ketchup X 2... 😋

MG's mayo is nomayo, LOL.

I like a double meat burger with double cheese and bacon, and lettuce. FF tomatoes are never quite right. If I have mayo, I will have mustard and 2 dill pickle slices but no ketchup. If I don't have mayo I will have no bacon, lettuce, or pickles, but I will have ketchup and mustard. For some reason ketchup just doesn't work with some things for me. Oh and sometimes a slice of red onion, which works with either of the above combos...

For me, it's just total convenience.
When I was in Maidstone with my bro, I'd often go down to the town, around 11am, and whack down a cheeseburger. Filled the stomach, didn't cost a fortune and I knew exactly what I was getting. I could have gone into a coffee shop ( Starplucks, Costalot Coffee, Caffe Neeero) and bought a grotty cup of coffee and a dry pastry for $10. McD's cost me $7.

To each their own for sure. My choice between Starbucks and McDonald's would be...neither!

I bet that myriad of solutions trips up the 17yo driving the register... (Can't laugh, BTDTWS)

The last time I ate a burger at a FF restaurant was over 30 years ago and I wasn't that complicated back then (though I still didn't like their tomatoes back then).

I have eaten some Five Guys burgers over the years (I don't consider that fast food), but I get paid to do that along with food reimbursement. They are totally used to a variety of combos there and don't bat an eyelash at my requests!

Ok so like about 6 months ago I read about freezing fries..I double fry mine anyway so I told wife about it.. she screwed her face up. So bah bah. Forgot about it.
UNTIL now. I like that recipe. I'm going to try it next week. Pics to follow later.

They were true to description when I made them. They fry really quick but then my fry pot isn't a commercial grade fryer so I kind of overcooked the first batch. Being the process what it is I made a huge batch the 2nd time and keep a bag ready.
