Recipe & Video Deconstructed Bacon Cheeseburger

Ok, the title is definitely a bit of a gimmick. Is basically just a cheesey pasta, beef, and bacon dish. But at the end of the day, was very happy with the end result.

Ingredients

500gms ground beef
250gms bacon (cut in to small squares)
125gms cheddar cheese (finely grated)
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 and 1/4 cups penne pasta (measured before cooking)
1 onion (chopped)
1 tbsp mustard powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground white pepper

Method

In a large frypan cook bacon pieces, then remove and set aside. At the same time cook pasta, drain, and
set aside.
Remove most the bacon fat from pan, and then saute onion in the same pan for a minute or two.
Add beef mince and cook till starting to brown. Add can of soup, mustard powder, and seasoning (to taste).
Simmer for 7-8 minutes.
Add cooked bacon and pasta, and cintinue cooking till warmed through.
Turn off heat, then fold through grated cheese.
serve hot.

My first thought when I saw the picture was, "Okay...that's a solid pasta." But, then I looked at the way you built this recipe. The ratio of bacon to beef is huge, but it just makes it clear that the beef is not the star. I like the proportion of cheddar to the other ingredients, but I don't know if the cheddar really stands out with all that bacon. Still, a great use for the cheese. I will probably make this soon.
