In the south (my roots), it's common to stock up on foods for the winter. This process is a money-saver and also an assurance that you don't go hungry because of alternate weather. For me, I begin to gather goods at the end of November, so after the holidays, I am set.

No, as winter in my city is mild and prefer purchasing fresh ingredients each week e.g fresh fruit and vegetables and cheese. Yes, it gets cold enough to warrant boots, scarves, gloves and coats but it never snows and so there is no threat of not being snowed in or anything.

Strangely enough I always buy extra food before public Holidays such as Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years as I get a little bit worried when all the shops are closed, even if it's just for a day or two.

It is winter now here in our place but most of the people here don't stock foods in their house. We also do buy every weekend fresh foods and nothing to hinder us from going outside even if it is snowing.
