Doughnuts

I really couldn't say, never having eaten an oliebol or olykoek.
British doughnuts tend to be a whole lot heavier.
Best doughnuts I've ever tasted came from an artisan shop in Silvertown, Ohio - about 10 minutes from where my son used to live.
I'm not a fan of Krispy Kreme - wrong texture, faaaar too sweet.
I think in that case you will love Oliebollen ☺️ I don't dislike them, that's something else entirely. But I prefer American doughnuts
 
For anyone who’s tasted the horrors of gluten free doughnuts (and probably understandably spat them out 😂) there are some which are edible. Not brilliant, not what you’d fondly think of as a doughnut but tiny little rounds that certainly hit that doughnut flavour spot.

I’m partial to getting 2 or 3 out of the freezer when the desire for a cup of tea and something sweet happens.
Right after the chicken wings??? 🤣
 
This is a type of (non-round) doughnut I've been occasionally eating recently in a bid to put on weight. The cream is fresh whipped cream and is not sweetened as far as I can tell. In fact, the whole doughnut us not excessively sweet. It totals around 200 cals. - as sold by Ocado and Morrisons:
