Example of supermarket prices in Croatia

This I hope, it give an idea what supermarkets are like here. Their are still plenty of independent bakers, butchers, greengrocers etc.

Wow that's expensive. Pork shoulder or leg is currently £3.85/kg and £4.00/kg respectively in Tesco at the moment. Decent stuff from a good butcher is about four times that - we pay about £16/kg for organic Gloucester Old Spot pork shoulder. In fact, we're having one for lunch tomorrow.

Cheapest I can get tomatoes is £1.50 a kilo and they aren't very good. I usually pay at least double that.

I never buy fresh tomatoes, but I know their price. They are about 0.80 cts here.

I buy tinned San Marzano or other good quality tomatoes which are 2 e per 500 gram.
