Long story shortened, I had a groundhog last year that was making tunnels in my and my neighbors yards, I got some stuff to deter him and it kind of "worked", but that just eventually drove him under my deck, I tried many more deterrents and they didn't work, so I had to drop a grand on getting my deck removed, and it worked. He left, and everything was fine for the rest of the year. He came back again (this year) and made a bunch of tunnels, and one along my house (that one concerns me the most). The usual deterrents did not do anything, so I had to schedule an appointment with pest control, and they came out and did their thing. Well, this crafty little SoB kept digging around the traps and evading them, so the critter control guy asked me if it would be ok to go lethal. I don't want anyone or any animals to get hurt, but if he kept doing his thing and burrowed into my house, that would have cost me many thousands of dollars to fix, and I can't afford that. So I agreed to go lethal. I also have medical issues going on currently that are undiagnosed, and I can't even work or drive until my neurologist clears me, so life is incredibly inconvenient right now.

The lethal trap worked. I feel really bad because I love animals and don't want any to get hurt. But the guy told me that the trap he used is instant, and there is no pain or suffering. I hope this groundhog was working alone, because the total amount I've spent on getting rid of it for the past couple of years up until today is over $2,000. That is insane for just a wildlife animal that I have no control over, so that is another reason I wanted to get this done A.S.A.P.

Things are starting to look up for me. I have a few things cleared off my plate now, and I don't work well with anxiety. I have it really bad, and I worry enough for several people, so any relief from that I can get, I take. Here's hoping things keep looking up.

While I echo your sentiment about not wanting to harm the critters, sometimes you have to do what has to be done, so I’m glad it was done as humanely as it was, and glad you’re feeling a little better.

How long until you’re cleared by your neurologist, do you know?

At least another month

over the years we have had multiple groundhogs . . we have a retaining wall of big boulders - which creates ideal habitat for them.

trapped an relocated a few. we had a "garden dog" - regrets... he had little interest in chatting up the pesky rodents...

then . . .
we got a huskie. he has caught and instantly snapped the necks on at least two.
and no, he did not want to let me take them from him . . . . that is another episode altogether . . .

I wish you'd come take out my neighbors' dogs. Between 3 houses behind me, all side by side, they have 7 dogs that just bark bark bark at each other all the time. Large breeds with deep barks. Right outside my bedroom window. They were out early this morning at 7:15 barking up a storm. Cops can't do anything because the noise ordinance is from 10pm-7am.

Omg, then send them to my neighbors house after that. God, their two dogs bark at literally anything that moves, until it leaves their eye sight. There are no terrible dogs, just terrible dog owners. If your dogs are like that, you did something wrong.
